Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

This program is for skilled workers (Professionals) with foreign work experience. The program requires applicants to meet specified minimum requirements for education, employment and language ability. Also, Its a scoring based system, and applicants are assessed on the basis of their age, education, experience, language, job offer and adaptability.

Age (Max 12 Points)

You get points according to your current age. There are maximum 12 points for the age 18-35 years and the points keep reducing by one for every year of age and till the age of 46 when it becomes zero.

Education (Max 25 points)

If you do not have Canadian post secondary education then You should have Education Credential assessment (ECA) completed by accredited third party agencies to find out equivalent Canadian education. You get points based on your qualification as stated in education credential evaluation.

Language (Max 28 Points)

You can get points based on your English language test score of IELTS general or CELPIP completed within last two years. The Min required score is CLB 7,which is 6 band each in IELTS and 7 band each in CELPIP to qualify. You can get additional points for French Proficiency which is tested by TEF.

Experience

You can get points for the number of years completed full-time paid work (at least 30 hours per week, or an equal amount of part-time at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B. The Skill type 0 stands for Managerial work and Skill type A for Professional work and Skill type B is for Technical work. You get max 12 points for work experience for 6 years or more.

Job offer (10 Points)

You can get points if you have a job offer of at least 1 year from a Canadian employer. The job offer must be before you apply to come to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker. A valid job offer has to be for continuous, paid, full-time work (minimum of 30 hours/week). It must not be seasonal and for at least 1 year in an occupation listed as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the NOC.

Adaptability (Max 10 points)

This includes 5 points each for your spouse's language score more than CLB 4 or higher in each language ability or your past study in Canada or your spouse study or employment in Canada or your arranged employment in Canada or your  relative in Canada. If you have past experience in Canada in NOC 0 or A or B for at least one year you can get 10 points.
