Parents and Grand parents sponsorship
You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents if you are at least 18 years old, live in Canada and you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act. The applications opens every year and as a sponsor you can fill an intent form and if
you are invited to apply from Immigration Canada, then you submit the application and supporting documents.
Key Requirements for Sponsor
Income requirements
You must meet Minimum Necessary income (MNI) requirements for the past 3 years. Additionally, you provide a undertaking of financial support for your sponsored family members for 20 years,(Quebec 10 years), starting when they become permanent residents and repay any provincial social assistance, if your sponsored family members get during the time of undertaking.
Financial requirements
You may NOT be eligible to sponsor, if you did not pay back an immigration loan, a performance bond court-ordered family support payments such as alimony or child support or did not give the financial support you agreed to when you sponsored someone else in the past or declared bankruptcy and are not discharged or receive social assistance for a reason other than a disability.
Other requirements
You may NOT be eligible to sponsor, if you are in jail, prison or penitentiary, or you were convicted of a violent criminal offence, any offence against a relative or any sexual offence inside or outside Canada or received a Removal Order.
Co Signor requirements
Your spouse can be a co signor, and co-signer must meet the same eligibility requirements as the sponsor agree to co-sign the undertaking, agree to be responsible for the basic requirements of the person they want to sponsor, and their family members for the validity period of the undertaking
