About The Global Skill Strategy
Canada's Global Skills Strategy (GSS) is a program that helps Canadian companies quickly hire skilled workers from other countries. It speeds up the application process, offers work permits for short-term jobs, and gives extra support to employers so they can fill important job roles faster. This way, businesses can get the talent they need without long delays
Eligibility Requirements
To benefit from the GSS, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria:
1. Workers Exempt from Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA):
Application Location
The applicant must apply from outside Canada
Job Classification
The position should be classified under Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) category 0 (managerial) or 1 (professional) of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system
Employer Compliance
The employer must submit an offer of employment through the Employer Portal and pay the employer compliance fee
2. Workers Requiring an LMIA
Application Location
The applicant must apply from outside Canada
LMIA Requirement
The employer must have a positive LMIA obtained through the Global Talent Stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program
Family Members
Spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children of eligible workers can also benefit from the two-week processing if they apply at the same time as the principal applicant. This applies to applications for visitor visas, work permits, and study permits.
